Dr. Carolina Osorio

Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry

Dr. Carolina Osorio is assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and staff psychiatrist at the California Department of State Hospitals-Patton, a forensic psychiatric hospital. As a medical student in Colombia, Dr. Osorio fell in love with the study of the brain and psychiatric medicine. After narrowly escaping a kidnapping for ransom, she immigrated to the United States and found her way to Loma Linda University Health through a Seventh-Day Adventist friend and study partner. While she champions America’s opportunities, Dr. Osorio sees firsthand how the nation’s healthcare system could be improved to address the multiple causes of mental health problems, substance abuse, homelessness, and incarceration. She cites treatment innovations offered at the Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center as a positive impact for people struggling with mental health issues and addiction.
