April Wilson, MD, MPH

Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine

April Wilson, MD, MPH, is a specialist in preventive, lifestyle, and obesity medicine at the Center for Health Promotion at Loma Linda University Health. Growing up in a rural, working-class town in Pennsylvania, her grandfather’s passion for medical science influenced her decision to attend Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where she met her husband, Thaddeus Wilson, MD, in their first year of study. Dr. Wilson’s typical patient has one or more of the chronic diseases common in Americans, including obesity, diabetes, and addiction. Understanding that these health conditions are driven by physiological as well as psychological reactions, Dr. Wilson makes her clinic a “no-shame space” where her patients can be honest about their struggles. In our media environment of often misleading health information, Dr. Wilson is candid about her responsibility as physician to offer evidence-based health advice while promoting the emotional resilience patients need on their journey to better health.
