Michael de Vera, MD, FACS

Director, Transplant Institute

Dr. Michael de Vera is director of the Transplant Institute and a highly skilled surgeon performing liver and kidney transplants. Born in the Philippines, Tagalog was his first language and he grew up enjoying basketball and deejaying. His parents’ desire for him to become a physician and his natural ability in the biological sciences sent him on a path through medical school, general surgery residency, and a transplant fellowship. After 20 years as a transplant surgeon, he loves the satisfaction of a successful operation and saving the life of someone who would otherwise die. He is grateful for the life he lives with his wife and daughter.
