Family and Geriatric Medicine

Dr. Ecler Jaqua is a geriatric medicine specialist at SAC Health and associate professor of family medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Growing up in Brazil, Dr. Jaqua helped care for her grandmother with Alzheimer’s, sparking a desire to provide the best possible care to older adults. Dr. Jaqua advocates for the healing power of building social connections with older adult patients. She helps motivate her patients by sharing her own health-related challenges, including caring for her daughter’s Type 1 diabetes and her decision to take weight-loss medication to kickstart her health transformation. Dr. Jaqua is known for cheerleading her colleagues to join her in earning additional specialty certifications to gain versatility and provide increasingly excellent patient care.
