Our curriculum runs on a quarterly basis and is largely longitudinal. Residents learn crucial real-life skills through a wide variety of settings and experiences.

Curriculum By Year

PGY-1

This year is either completed at Loma Linda University in the transitional year program or at another ACGME accredited residency program..

PGY-2

As a PGY-2 resident you will rotate at the local VA, a county health department, LLU Lifestyle Medicine consultations, LLU Quality improvement and Kaiser. In addition, you will have protected time to work on your MPH.

PGY-3

As a PGY-3 you will rotate at a large managed care company (IEHP), learn quality improvement at the VA and enjoy elective time. In addition, you will have protected time for your MPH and scholarly activity.

Didactics and Educational Activities

Protected time for didactics occur every Friday morning for all residents. Topics include board review, newsworthy public health events, clinical preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine and other interesting topics in medicine.

Plus One Fellowship Program

As a resident in the Plus One fellowship program, you will focus your one year with us on one of four areas:

  • Maternal health
  • Quality improvement
  • Lifestyle medicine
  • Global service

You will have protected time to work on your Master of Public Health (MPH) degree and improve your personal wellness.
