Moonlighting opportunities are available in our program. Our moonlighting policies are in compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Moonlighting During Residency

All moonlighting residents must:

  • Be in their last year (PGY-3)
  • Be in good academic standing within the program.
  • Obtain pre-approval from the program director.
  • Obtain pre-approval from the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office.

Learning and Working Environment

There are many in-house moonlighting opportunities where residents can earn additional income. These include emergency department triage shifts, overnight cross-cover of internal medicine patients, and more. If you are interested in moonlighting, please note:

  • Because graduate medical education is a full-time endeavor, residents must ensure that moonlighting does not interfere with their ability to achieve the goals and objectives of their educational program.
  • Residents are responsible for ensuring that moonlighting and other outside activities do not result in fatigue that might affect patient care or learning.
  • Residents are responsible for complying with the program's clinical experience and education policy. This policy has been approved by the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and is consistent with the GME policy on clinical experience and education.
