Our mission, vision, and values are the cornerstone of everything we do – including our drive to achieve and maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards that help define and shape how we conduct patient care, teaching, and research and the important service and business functions that support our tripartite mission.
Adopting guidance from a vast legal and regulatory oversight environment, Loma Linda University Health’s Corporate Compliance Program is designed to prevent, detect, and correct a wide array of problems that can occur in healthcare, academic, and research settings. Loma Linda University Health maintains a common compliance framework – consisting of seven elements – that provides foundation-level support and guardrails through which Loma Linda University Health operates.
Loma Linda University Health recognizes that compliance is a commitment to doing things in accordance with applicable law, regulations, and standards, and in the spirit of doing things the right way. All individuals who are subject to the Loma Linda University Health Corporate Compliance Program are obligated to take an active role in compliance. Compliance touches almost every aspect of what we do, including the following key areas.
Loma Linda University Health is committed to adhering to the laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements that pertain to Loma Linda University business and academic programs including, but not limited to, federal finance and compliance reporting, academic program enrollment and delivery, marketing and recruitment processes, and grievance processes. We foster a culture of continuous improvement in academic programs and promote academic excellence which translates to quality care, service excellence, student success - personally and professionally, and cutting-edge research provided by Loma Linda University-trained professionals from our eight schools: Allied Health, Behavioral Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Religion as well as our graduate faculty programs, and academic programs at San Manuel Gateway College.
Loma Linda University Health is committed to providing high-quality patient care in a manner that meets professionally recognized standards of healthcare. We strive to promote an environment of patient-centered care through multidisciplinary collaboration and processes, patient safety through mechanisms for continuous improvement and reporting, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Accuracy is of utmost importance when documenting services provided or work performed as part of any reimbursement or payment request process such as provider or hospital facility claim submission, financial or cost reporting, and grant or sponsor required submissions. Loma Linda University Health is committed to ensuring that effective processes and procedures are in place that drive accurate and timely billing and payment-related reports and filings.
Research activities are conducted pursuant to the policies and procedures established under the Loma Linda University Office of Research Affairs and must be done according to the principles and duties as set forth in Loma Linda University’s Commitment to the Ethical Conduct of Research.

Loma Linda University Health recognizes that personal or financial conflicts of interest in research, academics, and healthcare can compromise or have the appearance of compromising professional judgment. When considerations of personal gain, financial or otherwise, are inserted into decision-making processes, the decisions made can cause direct or indirect harm to those we serve as well as harm to Loma Linda University Health, government and commercial payers, and industry sponsors. For this reason, Loma Linda University Health requires that staff avoid relationships and arrangements that might interfere with the ability to make good decisions on behalf of Loma Linda University Health or potentially create a perception of wrongdoing.
