Dr. Ariane Marie-Mitchell, MD, PhD, MPH

Preventive Medicine

Ariane Marie-Mitchell, MD, PhD, MPH, is a pediatric and preventive physician, researcher, author, and advocate whose work focuses on the interplay between child health and family environment. At Loma Linda University Health, she helped develop the Whole Child Assessment, an innovative screening tool that integrates questions about safety, substance use, mental health, and relationships into routine pediatric care. Her research explores how stress shapes children’s biology and how strengthening family resilience improves health outcomes. Inspired by her upbringing in a ballet school and her family’s health experiences, Dr. Marie-Mitchell brings empathy, scientific curiosity, and a deep commitment to improving both clinical and community outcomes. She is passionate about health equity, creative expression, and the role of storytelling in healing. She serves as associate professor of pediatrics, preventive medicine, and public health at Loma Linda University.
