MRI BREAST BIOPSY INSTRUCTIONS:
- Requires orders for: MRI Breast (77059) MRI Breast Biopsy (19085) and Mammo for Clip Placement (77065) (selected as one exam on form). Radiologist protocol requires the MRI Breast be completed at LLUH on the scanner the MRI Breast Biopsy will be performed on, ensuring the look/conspicuity of the target lesion will not differ as can occur when comparing images from different MRI Scanners (each varies by manufacturer and Tesla strength).
- Patients on blood thinners, Coumadin/Warfarin, are required to stop taking 4 days prior with blood draw for INR day prior to biopsy. The patient will be referred back to physician for discussion of stopping blood thinners and/or using alternative meds. Please give order for labs to be drawn day prior to biopsy. Other NSAIDS must also be stopped 4 days prior to biopsy. Lovenox is held day prior and day of procedure.
