Goal $15 million
Through Stronger Together, Loma Linda University School of Nursing is expanding its role in addressing the critical nursing shortage by constructing a new, state-of-the-art educational facility and investing in student support, faculty, and scholarship programs.
Driven by its mission to prepare the next generation of nurses, advanced clinicians, educators, and researchers, LLU School of Nursing is responding to an urgent and growing need for well-prepared, compassionate caregivers. Healthcare systems are under increasing strain, and nurses are carrying heavier patient loads and intensifying demands.
California alone is projected to face a shortage of more than 40,000 nurses over the next decade. This shortage is already felt in hospitals, clinics, and community settings where patient needs continue to rise, and the workforce is stretched thin. Without immediate action, this gap will continue to grow and limit access to care.
In response, the school has already begun increasing enrollment each quarter, working toward a goal of training 300 students annually. This will require additional space, faculty, technology, and resources. To meet this need, the school is building a sizable new facility designed to enhance nursing education while increasing teaching capacity.
Since 2022, the Stronger Together campaign has generated meaningful support for scholarships, faculty development, and capital projects. Of the $71+ million in total project costs, $15 million is being sought through philanthropic support, with additional funding provided through institutional and grant sources. These investments are expanding opportunities for future nurses who will serve communities across California and beyond.
