Goal $120 million

Cancer remains one of the most pressing health challenges of our time. Nearly 40% of people will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. At Loma Linda University Health, we are uniquely positioned to unite some of the world’s most advanced cancer therapies — combining scientific innovation with whole person care to serve patients throughout our region and beyond.

Through the Stronger Together campaign, we are investing in expanded access, accelerated research, and highly targeted treatments that improve outcomes while reducing the burden of care.

Loma Linda University Health is advancing one of the most comprehensive environments for precision cancer treatment in the region. As these programs grow, we are expanding access to CAR T-cell therapy, theranostics, boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), and next-generation proton therapy research.

By strengthening these highly specialized approaches, we are advancing treatments that target cancer cells with greater precision while preserving healthy tissue — improving both survival and quality of life.

Together, we are boldly and courageously imagining a cancer-free world.

Focus Areas

To translate leading-edge discoveries into patient care, including pediatrics, we are focusing on four areas of targeted cancer treatment:

  • Cell therapy/immunotherapy that reprograms a patient’s own immune cells to recognize and destroy cancer.
  • Theranostics that combines advanced imaging and targeted treatment to deliver therapy directly to tumors.
  • Proton therapy innovation (including FLASH research) that delivers highly precise radiation and may significantly reduce side effects.
  • Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) that targets difficult-to-treat cancers at the molecular level.

These approaches deliver highly targeted treatment at the cellular and molecular level, offering new hope for patients facing some of the most challenging cancers.

Together We Are

  • Expanding cellular therapy and laboratory infrastructure.
  • Enhancing theranostics imaging, treatment space, and radiopharmacy resources.
  • Advancing next-generation proton therapy research and technology.
  • Strengthening BNCT research and treatment capabilities.
