Evidence-based practice is the systematic use of research studies, guidelines, expert opinion and patient/family values in the development of practices, protocols, and policies that guide nursing practice.

Nursing research is a systematic approach to answering questions and solving problems based upon objective evidence.

At Loma Linda University Health, we believe that evidence-based practice, nursing research, and innovation are essential components of nursing excellence that ensure quality patient/family-centered patient care and outcomes.

For 20 years, we have advanced nursing knowledge of evidence-based practice, research and innovation through our Nursing Evidence-based Practice and Nursing Research Conference held every year in May during National Nurses Week.

"Evidence-based practice is the foundation for our nurses. Through fellowships, team support, grants, and EBP sessions during the RN Residency, we provide guidance and support for our nursing staff. Through this support, our staff are empowered to change practice, improve outcomes, and deliver high-quality care."
