The urologists at Loma Linda University Health are committed to Whole Person Care, recognizing the “personhood” of even the smallest child. Treating the full range of pediatric urologic dysfunction, our pediatric urologists provide consultation, diagnosis and treatment for conditions such as hypospadias, vesicoureteral reflux, undescended testes and urinary tract infections.
Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin from the penis. The benefits of circumcision include reduced risk of penile cancer, fewer urinary tract infections and decreased risk of contracting venereal diseases. Circumcision should not be performed on infants with hypospadias, since the foreskin may be needed for the repair of hypospadias.
When it comes to the circumcision procedure, every effort is made to ensure the care and comfort of your baby boy. The procedure takes less than an hour and the infant is asleep. If circumcision is not performed shortly after birth, it is recommended to wait until the child is six months old.
We were named a Best Children's Hospital for urology by U.S. News & World Report.
