The 2nd Annual Southern California Evidence-Based Practice Conference Practice Transformation is held in the fall every year. The conference is designed to support, encourage and increase knowledge of the nurse regarding magnet, evidence based practice, nursing research and collaborative practices.  The conference will provide information from nurse researchers and clinical staff highlighting current practices for the transition of care and exemplars from the pillars of magnet.  There will be poster presentations in the areas of evidence based practice changes and research.  Any healthcare professional interested in advancing clinical practice, evidence-based practice, or nursing research should attend this conference.

Sheila A. Haas PhD, RN, FAAN

Sheila A. Haas PhD, RN, FAAN

Sheila A. Haas, PhD, RN, FAAN, is a Professor and former Dean of the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing at Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Haas holds a MSN from Loyola University Chicago and a doctorate from the University of Illinois at Chicago where the focus of her research was productivity, clinical ladder systems, and patient acuity systems. Dr. Haas developed the Nursing Administration major and the dual degree MSN/MBA at Loyola University. She also holds a joint appointment to the Loyola University Chicago Graduate School of Business..  She currently teaches in the graduate program in nursing (MSN, DNP and PhD), as well as, the MBA program. She does research, publication and consulting in the areas of clinical ladders, work redesign and evaluation, differentiated practice evidence-based practice and nursing intensity systems. She has facilitated development of prototypical intensity systems in several healthcare organizations. Dr. Haas’ research, done with Loyola colleagues, on the role of the nurse professional in ambulatory care has been used to delineate competencies and to help conceptualize the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) conceptual framework and core curriculum.

Gregory Crow, PhD From 2004-2017  was with the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program at University of San Francisco as Adjunct Professor and Director, Vietnam Nurse Project.  He also is an adjunct faculty member at Bach Mai Medical School of Nursing in Hanoi, Vietnam and holds a joint appointment with USF/SONHP as a professor at the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine University in Hanoi, Vietnam.  Dr Crow is active in the development of professional governance and has published many articles on empowering nurses through professional development and professional governance.  His work with nurses in innovation, empowerment and transforming practice spans the United States and extends to Vietnam.  His work includes innovative approaches to grand rounds, redesigning and implementation of a nursing shared governance model for a multi-hospital system and expanding evidence-based practice in a variety of setting. He is currently the Community Research Advisor for Eisenhower Health System in Rancho Mirage, CA.
