How do I schedule an appointment?

New patients may require a referral from their primary care physician. Please call our offices at 909-558-4200 to make an appointment.

Do I need a referral? If so, how do I get one?

To access our heart services, a referral may be necessary. Consult with your primary care physician to issue any referrals you need.

Is my insurance an HMO?

If you have an HMO, you must have authorization prior to visiting LLUIHI.

What should I do if my insurance has changed?

Prior to your appointment, please call Loma Linda University Central Registration Office at 909-558-3139 in order to be registered.

Will I receive information prior to my appointment?

Yes, you will receive a new patient packet which will include:

  • History and physical form (also available online)
  • Your scheduled physician’s biography card
  • Map and directions
  • Card to list all your medications

How early should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive 30 minutes before your appointment to allow for parking, additional paperwork and time to relax in order to take an accurate blood pressure reading.

Where is the International Heart Institute located?

We’re located at the Lobby Level of the Medical Center in the Schuman Pavilion in Suite 1617.

Where do I park?

You can park in front of the Medical Center in any guest parking spot or use valet parking located at the front entrance. Valet service is free for patients for the International Heart Institute.

Who do I contact if I need to change my appointment?

To change your appointment, please call the International Heart Institute at 909-558-4200.

How does a cardiologist work with my primary care doctor?

Your primary care physician coordinates all of your care and refers you to specialists for conditions they cannot treat. Your primary care doctor may refer you to a cardiologist. The cardiologist will guide your cardiac care, planning tests and treatments.

When should I be referred to a cardiologist?

The attention of a cardiologist may be required if you have a significant heart condition. Consult your doctor if you’re experiencing symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath or dizzy spells.

What can I expect from my initial visit?

With a new patient visit, you should expect to complete pre-visit information about your current health, a questionnaire, and consents via MyChart. Any testing with the exception of an EKG will be scheduled at a later time.
