Loma Linda University Health’s Family Medicine Residency promotes a balanced lifestyle. Our residents are given the educational, professional and personal support needed to stay healthy physically, mentally and spiritually.

Residents organize fun get-togethers monthly, catch up during weekly didactics and let off steam in regular support group meetings. Faculty are open and supportive, ready to help residents with any issue.

Activities and Groups

Resident-elected social chairs plan activities and gatherings for residents throughout the year. These fun events usually happen once a month and help bond residents and foster community. The program also sets up regular support group meetings for residents to discuss the stresses of residency.

Two of the biggest events each year are the Family Medicine retreat and the Christmas party. Other events include:

  • Bowling Night
  • Residents vs faculty basketball game
  • Monthly media club for book and film discussions (to exercise the non-medical part of our brains!)
  • Potlucks
  • Beach days
  • Transmural sports tournaments
  • All-residency hikes/walk at Hulda Crooks Park
