Loma Linda University Health’s Family Medicine Residency promotes a balanced lifestyle. Our residents are given the educational, professional, and personal support needed to stay healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Residents organize fun get-togethers, catch up during weekly didactics and let off steam in regular support group meetings facilitated by mental health professionals. Faculty are open and supportive, ready to help residents with any issue.
Resident-elected social chairs plan activities for residents throughout the year. These fun events happen monthly and help residents bond and foster community. The program also hosts Happy Monday sessions to discuss various aspects of professional development and wellness with lunch.
Two big events annually include the Family Medicine retreat and the Christmas party that includes the entire residency, faculty and staff.
With numerous vacation destinations within driving distance residents can easily plan get togethers for a wide variety of interests during their free time such as coffee days, skiing, beach outings, desert or mountain hikes, media or dinner clubs, as well as ideas each new cohort shares with the current social chair.
Other events include:
“Our program brings together people with diverse backgrounds and a shared calling of becoming the best physicians we can for our current and future patients. Here, I have found many amazing, like-minded people whom I will consider friends for the rest of my life.”
