Flu Season Hospital Visitor Limitations

Temporary limitations are in place for hospital visitors. Visitors must be 18 years or older and not exhibit any flu symptoms.

Fellow Conferences and Educational Activities

Fellows attend the conferences listed below as well as participate in delivering core lectures to residents during their PICU rotations and noon conferences, facilitate mock codes, and assist in nursing education.

  • Fellow Didactic Thursdays
  • Case Presentations
  • Monthly Journal Club
  • Monthly OPEN Pediatrics Webinars
  • Monthly Pathology Conference
  • A two-day, Bi-Annual PICU Boot Camp
  • Monthly Pediatric Critical Care Morbidity and Mortality
  • Monthly Pediatric Cardiothoracic Morbidity and Mortality
  • Monthly ECMO Morbidity and Mortality
  • Code White Simulation at the Med Simulation Center (six times per year)
  • Monthly Core Curriculum (lectures related to scholarly activity)


Other educational opportunities that occur at least once during fellowship include:

  • Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support Course
  • Ultrasound Use in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine training
  • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation training course
  • Lean 6 Sigma Silver Belt Training


Fellow’s teaching opportunities include:

  • Resident noon conferences
  • Teaching residents and medical students rotating through the PICU
  • Teaching skills in the Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support Course
  • Teaching at the Pediatric Critical Care Nursing Residency Program
  • Teaching other ancillary staff such as respiratory therapists
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary Mock codes at the Medical Simulation Center
