Loma Linda University Health Education Consortium (LLUHEC) participates in the San Francisco Match, which takes place in December for applicants who intend to begin the fellowship training in August of the following year.

Fellowship applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology and have a California medical license by the start of fellowship.

The deadline for receipt of a completed application is August 1 of each year.

LLUHEC utilizes a holistic to application review. Applicants' experiences, personal character, clinical skills, and academic metrics are all evaluated to account for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and life experiences. Letters of recommendation should address these different aspects of each applicant.

A completed application includes all required components of the SF Match application, including standardized letters of recommendation that highlight salient qualities and character traits that would contribute to the applicant's success in the fellowship training program at LLUHEC. In addition, USMLE Step 2 and Step 3 scores are required as part of your completed application at LLUHEC. We will not accept other supplemental paperwork or documentation to be added to fellowship applications or additional correspondence regarding fellowship applicants.

Applicants considered for interview at LLUHEC are required to submit two additional videos:

  • A video of yourself performing a mock elliptical excision measuring 6 x 1 cm with bilayered closure on SimSkin or another suitable substitute. This should not be performed on a live patient. The video should begin with a drawing of the ellipse and end with placement of the superficial epidermal sutures. The recording should be continuous, not edited, and recorded in real time. The video should be no more than 10-minutes in length. The evaluation will be based on appropriate use of instruments, technique, and efficiency.
  • Prior to the interview, applicants should submit a video introducing themselves. The video should be less than four minutes and include your interest in a MSDO fellowship, and relevant experiences and qualifications. You may consider highlighting any specific goals or achievements that make you a strong applicant along with any details that would help us get to know you.
