Our fellowship curriculum is designed to develop all core competencies through close mentorship, comprehensive didactic instruction, in-depth and broad ranging clinical experiences, and an emphasis on scholarly work. Every graduate will be well prepared as a physician leader with advanced knowledge and expertise in infectious diseases.

Curriculum by Year

PGY - 1

  • 44 weeks of inpatient rotation at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital General ID Service
  • 2 weeks of microbiology rotation
  • 2 weeks of research and scholarly work
  • 48 weeks of one-half day per week continuity clinic (both at VA and LLU)
  • 26 days of Saturday call coverage
  • 4 weeks of vacation

PGY - 2

  • 18 weeks of inpatient rotation at LLUMC Transplant and Immunocompromised ID Service
  • 8 weeks of inpatient rotation at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital General ID Service
  • 2 weeks of inpatient service w/ 1st years for orientation
  • 12 weeks research and scholarly work
    • During research blocks fellows will have opportunity to do one half-day elective rotations at our specialty clinics including High-Resolution Anoscopy (HRA), Travel Medicine Clinic, Coccidioides Clinic
  • 4 weeks of Antimicrobial Stewardship
  • 4 weeks of Hospital Epidemiology
  • 48 weeks of one-half day per week HIV continuity clinic (both at VA and LLU)
  • 26 days of Sunday call coverage
  • 4 weeks of Vacation
