Our fellowship curriculum is designed to develop all core competencies through close mentorship, comprehensive didactic instruction, in-depth and broad ranging clinical experiences, and an emphasis on scholarly work. Every graduate will be well prepared as a physician leader with advanced knowledge and expertise in infectious diseases.

Curriculum by Year

PGY - 1

  • 44 weeks of inpatient rotations at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) and the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital (LLVA)
  • 2 week microbiology rotation
  • 2 weeks for research and scholarly work
  • 48 weeks of one half-day per week continuity clinic
  • 4 weeks of vacation

PGY - 2

  • 16 weeks of LLUMC transplant and immunocompromised inpatient rotations
  • 8 weeks of inpatient rotations at LLUMC and LLVA
  • 10 weeks for research and scholarly work or global health experience
  • 4 week antimicrobial stewardship rotation
  • 4 week hospital epidemiology rotation
  • up to 6 weeks in any of the ID specialty clinics (Coccidioides clinic, hepatitis clinic, high resolution anoscopy clinic)
  • 26 days of Sunday call coverage
  • 48 weeks of one half-day per week continuity HIV clinic
  • 4 weeks of vacation
