For those interested in applying for a residency position, applications should be submitted through ERAS. We accept applications for PGY-1 positions only. Positions are filled through the NRMP. All applications are screened according to selection criteria. Applications are reviewed once the MSPE is uploaded October 1. Applications submitted after initial interview offers will be reviewed as time permits.
Applicants are selected to interview who align with the mission of LLUEM and LLUH as an institution. We place a high priority on individuals who possess the characteristics and skills of emotional intelligence, teamwork, selflessness, integrity, professionalism, compassion, empathy and critical thinking. Traditional markers of academic success are used for application screening but do not play a prominent role in applicant selection for interviews or applicant ranking.
Applicants must provide a medical degree from an LCME or AOA accredited school or international school recognized by California Medical Board prior to beginning residency.
To be considered for an interview please provide:
A complete ERAS application
Minimum of 1 SLOE (2 SLOEs preferred but the 2nd can be provided after the interview)
A passing score on USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Step 1
The first round of interviews are anticipated to be offered mid-October. You will receive notification of an interview offer, followed the next day by an invitation to schedule your interview date on Interview Broker. We have more qualified applicants than interview positions each year. As more positions become available, additional interview positions will be offered throughout interview season.
