Why choose Loma Linda: I think Loma Linda is a warm place. It is easy to approach any resident or attending. When I was first learning the ropes, I would have multiple people check-in throughout the day to make sure things were going ok. There are also good opportunities to pursue your specific interests within pathology. For example, being interested in bedside blood bank, I was able to participate in stem cell therapy delivery during my rotation.

Hobbies: I love animals! I don't know if that counts as a hobby, but they are a big part of my life. Video games (fallout, dragon age, RDR2,) trombone, piano, scuba diving, and surfing (but I am really bad at it.)

Why choose Loma Linda: It was my own personal "Goldilocks" - the program is not too big and not too small (so you aren't overworked and you get the attention and training you need), it seemed like a professional environment while also being tight-knit (but not cliquey), close enough to home, pays well with wonderful benefits, and offered enough connections to the field that I felt secure I would be able to find work after residency and fellowship. It's also been full of opportunity outside of the usual training: I've been able to publish a paper, create posters that have been selected for presentation, and even teach and facilitate medical school and pathology assistant students.
