Legacy of E. Jane Woolley, MD
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Dr. E. Jane Woolley, who peacefully passed away Saturday morning, March 14, 2026, at her home in Rancho Mirage.
E. Jane Woolley, MD was one of the three visionary founders of the Big Hearts for Little Hearts Desert Guild, which began more than 24 years ago with a simple yet powerful mission—to make a difference in the lives of children. What started as a heartfelt idea among three women with big hearts led to the Guild’s very first luncheon at The Club at Morningside in Rancho Mirage, laying the foundation for what would become an extraordinary legacy of compassion and impact.
Through Dr. Woolley's leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment, the Desert Guild has raised more than $14 million to support the children of our region who rely on Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital for care. Dr. Woolley’s vision has forever changed the landscape of pediatric healthcare in the Coachella Valley and beyond.
In 2014, Dr. Woolley further cemented her legacy by establishing the Woolley-Pettis Endowed Chair for Pediatric Research, ensuring that innovation, discovery, and hope will continue for generations of children to come.
Dr. Woolley’s life was a testament to generosity, service, and love for others. Her impact will continue to be felt in every child helped, every family supported, and every life touched through the work she helped build.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in honor of Dr. Woolley’s legacy to the Woolley-Pettis Endowed Chair for Pediatric Research. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she has touched and the enduring mission she helped bring to life.
