As a fellow, you will be integrated with the residents on a teaching surgical service, where you'll participate in all minimally invasive operations and lead the resident team in post-operative patient management. You will have the opportunity, and are encouraged, to perform teaching cases with junior residents, and be an active participant in resident education. Our fellows are expected to participate in the Department of Surgery Morbidity & Mortality Conference. Additionally, you'll join a faculty member in outpatient clinic at least once a week to further refine your pre-operative workup and decision-making skills.

Program Highlights

  • One board eligible or board-certified fellow is appointed to this one-year fellowship
  • All facilities including outpatient clinic are within a 2.5-mile radius and less than a 10 min drive apart
  • No required general surgery attending call

Facilities

Primarily based at Loma Linda University Health with opportunities to operate at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital (Loma Linda VA)

Research

The fellow is expected to participate in research projects and submit at least one abstract to a local or national society meeting.
