The Neurosurgery Residency Program at LLU is a one-a-year training program with the goal of graduating neurosurgeons who are technically proficient and confident in their ability to provide excellent care to their patients. Our faculty, advanced practice providers, administrators and staff work together to provide the best neurosurgical care possible and ensure that the next generation of neurosurgeons have the tools they need to carry on that tradition. As a faith-based academic health sciences center, we believe in service to others that reflects the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, including the education and wellbeing of our residents.

Why Choose Us

  • Small student to faculty ratio: One of the strengths of our program is its small size, which allows a ratio of faculty to residents not seen in most programs. Combined with the variety and scope of surgical procedures we perform, you receive a personalized surgical education that prepares you for a successful career.
  • Diversity: We believe representation at all levels is not only the right thing to strive for but also the best for our patients and residents’ education. The diversity of our faculty and residents makes our program more effective at training neurosurgeons to serve a diverse population.
  • State-of-the-art facilities: Your training includes experience at a Level 1 trauma center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Program, and NAEC Level 4 pediatric and adult epilepsy center.
  • Large, underserved patient population: We are the only tertiary / quaternary medical center in San Bernardino and Riverside counties serving a population of over 4.6 million people. We provide medical care to a large, underserved population across Southern California.
